2D Game

This 2D game is a computer-basic game and was created by Unity (Software). This project is my school assignment and this is the first time I used Unity (Software) to create a 2D game.

Duration of this project is one week.

The purpose of this project is to experiment with Unity (Software) and understand the basic concept of using Unity (Software) to build a game.

Process

I was very interested in Unity (Software). My first job was as a User Interface / Interaction Designer for PC games in a game company. At that time, the engineers in that company had to create their own game engines for their own games. However, nowadays, Unity (Software) provides an open platform or game engine platform that is easy to learn and convenient for everyone to build the game.

I started to build this 2D game from a 2D game template. It was not difficult to learn how to use Unity (Software) to manage the assets, sign parameters to every object, and build this game.

Then I focused on creating my own background picture and a box material picture for this game. I used the template sprites that my teacher provided to me and put these sprites in the correct fold.

The teacher also provided pre-write scripts for this game. I imported these scripts, set up parameters to the objects, and then tested this game. I failed the test the first time. I checked every step I had done and figured out that the problems of this game came from pre-write scripts. I was interested in these scripts, and it seemed like a challenge to me. I did not ask for my teacher’s help for these scripts. I had the working knowledge of JavaScript, Action Script, and PHP. Therefore, I went to the Unity website, spent the time to self-study these scripts until I was able to understand them, find the bugs and fix these bugs, then I tested the game until this game worked well to complete this project.
